Netherlands Gallery 14 April 2024

Saskia Boelsums holds a solo exhibition at Gasunie, Groningen (NL) printed exclusively on Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag

“As an artist and photographer I carry a rich cultural heritage with me. I therefore feel strongly connected to the Dutch tradition of landscape painters such as Van Gogh, Maris and Van Ruisdael.”
In her photos Saskia Boelsums shows the essence of her experience and makes the atmosphere of the photographed landscape tangible for the viewer.

Conveying her experience of nature through photography is Saskia's motivation. She is the perfect landscape photographer who knows how to capture the impressive, sometimes wild and just as often vulnerable beauty of nature.

Saskia Boelsums (August 21, 1960, Nieuwer-Amstel) grew up in Iran and Curaçao. She studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen. She has focused on photography since 2013 and her work has been awarded a large number of prizes. She exhibits in galleries, at art fairs and in museums in Amsterdam, London, Berlin, Hong Kong and New York. Her work is included in various art collections. In 2020 she was Artist of the Year.

At 3.30 pm, visitors will be welcomed by Rudi Streuper, chairman of the Gasunie Art Committee. After this, art historian Sophie van Steenderen, curator of Stadsmuseum Harderwijk and the Marius van Dokkum Museum, will provide the introduction to the exhibition.

The exhibition is only public during the opening on Sunday April 14th, after which it is closed. Saskia will be present during the opening.
