"To better display my work on Tibet just after troubled times, I looked for ink and paper that offered the right behaviour, rich grey shades, an apparent texture and warm tones.

Having worked in Digital Black & White, I wanted to keep the "noise" of the photos taken with high film speed, whilst breaking its regularity and the contrast linked to the altitude of these areas, as well as the intensity of the looks shared between the people photographed, revealing the uneasiness of the question that is Tibet.

My images have gained, thanks to the Canson Infinity Rag Photographique, a texture and a deepness suitable for these shooting conditions. The Rag texture associated with charcoal-selenium pigmented inks (piezography) have enabled me to show the subtle rendition and the depth I was looking for.  "

Laurent Zylberman founded in 1980 the agency Graphix-Images based in Paris. When he was a correspondent in Asia and Mexico for Sygma and Asiaweek, he showed the social and industrial development of these areas. Back in Europe in 1997, Laurent Zylberman worked on a personnal project giving regular exhibitions, whilst making several corporate reports for Graphix-Images. He took advantage of certain of these corporate orders to establish his own vision of a world too often constrained. He takes these opportunity to cast a look aside what he can or even what he is authorised to capture.

His last projects were shot in Lousiana, Israël or Tibet. His images must therefore be looked at and analysed as several clues showing a world that does not always want to be seen as it really is. The photos presented in this galery and extracted from the series taken in Tibet Autonomous Region in September 2008.
